Mount Meru trekking is used as a warm up trekking before attempting its sister Mount Kilimanjaro but the technical necessities required for mount Meru trekking are greater than on Mount Kilimanjaro trekking Routes. Mount Meru is the second tallest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth tallest peak in Africa. The mountain is located inside the Arusha national park which off course dominates the Park by its massive rock faces. On the fourth day of your mount Meru trekking you can see elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and monkey; you will be accompanied by park armed ranger on the way up and down the mountain.
Visit the volcano Mount Meru which stands high at 4,566 meters above sea level in Tanzania with Tanzania Adventures. Mount Meru is one of Africa’s most beautiful dead volcanoes standing today. From the peak of the mount Meru you will have a stunning view on small and large Momella Lakes, Mount Kilimanjaro and the beautiful distant plains of west Kilimanjaro. On the lower slopes you will find different types of landscapes such as grassland, thick forest and rough rocks.
The advantage of Mount Meru compared to Mount Kilimanjaro is that it has been less trekked. This means that there are still large numbers of wild animals and rich vegetation. It is said that in the past Mount Meru was a larger volcano than Kilimanjaro. Because of erosion and explosion she became smaller. Though Kilimanjaro offers the opportunity to stand on the “Rooftop of Africa”, Mount Meru only offers you less sight and adventures compared to Kilimanjaro. Trekking Mount Meru is entirely worth a doing.
